  • Assists children to express feelings

  • Develops an understanding of cause and effect

  • Creates the ability to label shapes and objects

  • Helps develop planning skills

  • Provides opportunities for children to learn directionality

  • Continues to develop fine motor skills.

Music Class

Shiny Star EEC's music program is an educational music experience where children learn the concepts of beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch and dynamics in a play based environment. Different educational themes are presented each week using props, puppets, costumes and percussion instruments to deliver a multi-sensory experience.

Our four key focus areas presented throughout the year are; Auslan Key Sign Language, multicultural languages, Kodaly (Sol Fa) singing method and spatial awareness. Music improves fine and gross motor skills, visual and auditory processing, and cognitive learning.

Through regular participation, using their imaginations and role play activities, children also experience improved memory, language and social skills.

Sports Class

Our soccer program focuses on helping children develop the physical, social and cognitive skills needed to grow into healthy and happy adults.

Children are taught sport in line with the Early Years Learning Framework and have the opportunity to develop skills including:

  • Gross motor skills

  • Co-ordination

  • Group interaction and playing in a team

  • Confidence and self-esteem

Literacy

‘Literacy is the capacity, confidence and disposition to use language in all its forms. Literacy incorporates a range of modes of communication including music, movement, dance, storytelling, visual arts, media and drama, as well as talking, listening, viewing, reading and writing.

Shiny Star EEC provides rich play learning experiences that support and promote literacy and numeracy and all other aspects of children's learning and development.

Numeracy

‘Numeracy is the capacity, confidence and disposition to use mathematics in daily life. Children at Shiny Star EEC are encouraged to bring new mathematical understandings through engaging with problem solving. It is essential that the mathematical ideas with which young children interact are relevant and meaningful in the context of their current lives.

Shiny Star EEC Educators use a rich mathematical vocabulary to accurately describe and explain children’s mathematical ideas and to support numeracy development.

Outside Play

Playing outside gives your child the chance to explore the natural environment and have adventures. Children at Shiny Star EEC are encouraged to play games, test their physical limits, express themselves and build their self-confidence.

With adequate supervision, children at Shiny Star EEC are also supported to be participated in 'Risky Play'. These experiences are an important part of how children learn and develop. When children come across risky play situations, it challenges them to test their limits and learn new skills. And with practice, children gain the skills and confidence they need to handle risks and challenges by themselves.
